Obama on Foreign Policy

Many are anticipating tonight's (10.22.2012) final debate between President B. H. Obama and former MA Governor W. M. Romney. Two weeks and one day separate today and the 2012 election. This debate is critical for both participants.

Independent of who "wins" tonight's debate, and the results are likely to be mixed based on who a person's "favorite" may be, I feel it is important to identify the current administration's "approach" to the subject of the debate - Foreign Policy.

The below presents several indications of Obama's foreign policy "leanings" and is the result of the research I performed. Whereas any single item described below may be "written off" to misrepresentation, mistakes, or the like, the sum of them, taken together, should not be ignored. They present a trend to a weakening of America's place in the world as a Country of Greatness.

Individual items:

1. Showing deference to world leaders -

Obama has met with many of the world's leaders - as would be expected. Routinely he has presented himself to those leaders in a manner of deference to them. Politeness is one thing, deference is quite another. Simple politeness would dictate that the foreign leaders respond "in kind" - this was not to be. The below pictures depict this deference:

In my rather extensive travels in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia I have found that a show of "deference" is NOT interpreted as "polite", it is interpreted as "weakness". It is argued that the perceived "weakness" on the part of America has given rise to increased tensions in the world as well as lesser nations feeling emboldened to attack our interests - both physically and politically.

2. Obama and Russia

Russia is well known to be a "behind the scenes" supporter of nations that are not our friends. Russia is supplying Iran with much of its nuclear ambitions and supplies leading toward Iran having nuclear weapons. Now Egypt is seeking Iran's help in the development of its own nuclear capabilities.

In a recent meeting between Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to discuss nuclear arms treaty issues, Obama was captured saying some things that are very troublesome. Watch the below video:

With Obama's historical statements about taking action when Congress won't, "After my election I have more flexibility" is scary - especially when it concerns nuclear arms and other things.

This from Reuter's on this:

"President Barack Obama was caught on camera on Monday assuring outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev he will have "more flexibility" to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election. Obama, during talks in Seoul, urged Moscow to give him "space" until after the November ballot, and Medvedev said he would relay the message to incoming Russian president Vladimir Putin. The unusually frank exchange came as Obama and Medvedev huddled together on the eve of a global nuclear security summit in the South Korean capital, unaware their words were being picked up by microphones as reporters were led into the room..."

3. Obama on Israel

Clealy, Israel is our ONLY ally in the Middle East. So why does Obama consistantly give Israel "the short end of the stick"? Examples:

The White House declined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request on to meet U.S. President Barack Obama during a UN conference in New York at the end of the month. Obama did have time to appear on "The View" TV show during this time, however.

Obama snubbed Netanyahu for dinner with Michelle and the girls, Israelis claim Benjamin Netanyahu was left to stew in a White House meeting room for over an hour after President Barack Obama abruptly walked out of tense talks to have supper with his family.

One line from President Obama's recent speech stirred up anger in Congress and Israel: "Borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared his country will not return to those "indefensible borders."

On the official designation of Jeruslaem as the capital of Israel, there is this: ďAs the White House said several months ago, the status of Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians.."

White House, on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, had declined a meeting request from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama does have time, however, to meet with the new Islamist President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi, who is traveling to the US at the same time as Netanyahu. Back in July, Obama invited the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Morsi to the White House for a meeting. He didn't simply agree to a meeting request, but initiated the invite on his own. The differing treatment between Israel and the Muslim Brotherhood is jarring.

4. Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood

The Muslim Brotherhood has as its main aim the establishment of a world Caliphate. Osama Bin Laden, Hamas, and Hezbollah have their roots in the Muslim Brotherhood. This organization is hell bent on world domination and the establishment of Sharia Law as the law of the world. They are NOT secular in any way - they are sponsors of terrorism across the globe.

However, Obama and his administration do not seem to view them the same way - Or, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!" Here is an example from Obama and his team:

Obama's Intel Chief: Muslim Brotherhood Non-Violent, 'Secular' Group: "The term 'Muslim Brotherhood'...is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam,"

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said. "They have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt, et cetera.....In other countries, there are also chapters or franchises of the Muslim Brotherhood, but there is no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally."

Although not specifically tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, the following is yet another example of his attitude toward Islamic "affections":

Bolden created a firestorm after telling Al Jazeera last month that President Obama told him before he took the job that he wanted him to do three things: inspire children to learn math and science, expand international relationships and "perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering."

The scope of the Brotherhood's vision for the United States was spelled out in a 1991 document called the "Explanatory Memorandum." In that memo, which federal prosecutors introduced as evidence in two trials of the now-defunct Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, Brotherhood leaders said they planned to create an Islamic state in the United States.

How successful is this organization in acheiving its goals? Here is but a small list of persons with strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood operating within our government - specifically the current administration:

Arif Alikahn, Former Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Policy Development

Salam al-Marayati, Founder and Executive Director of Muslim Public Affairs Council

Mohamed Elibiary, Homeland Security Advisory Committee Member

Rashad Hussain, State Department Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Imam Mohamed Magid, Homeland Security Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Member

Eboo Patel, Obama Administration Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships

Huma Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

5. Obama on Great Britain

The somewhat infamous "returning of the bust of Winston Churchill" springs to mind. The bust was loaned to the White House shortly after 911 by the British as an "act of friendship". Uopn Obama's taking office he returned it. The White House denied this. But, ...:

(CBS News) The White House's case arguing President Obama never returned a bust of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill turned out to be somewhat of a bust itself.

The British Embassy confirmed to Mediaite.com that despite caustic pushback from an Obama administration official, conservative Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer was correct when he wrote in his column this week that Mr. Obama "started his presidency by returning to the British Embassy the bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office."

A photo showing the president and British Prime Minister David Cameron leaning over a Churchill bust outside the Treaty Room was posted to the White House blog in an effort by Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer to debunk what he called the "patently false" claim by Krauthammer. But according to the Embassy, the bust in the photo is just a copy of the original.

6. Which foreign leaders are endorsing Obama for re-election?

Chavez, Castro, Putin - that's who! These are definitely who I would NOT want endorsing my candidate - Communists all!

OK, enough of this. However, when one looks at the "trend" not all is well with our current Foreign Policy.
